Registration

The fees include participation in the scientific program, as well as all coffee breaks, lunches, dinners, and the reception on Day 1 (Symposium).

  • PD day: There is no registration fee, but you are required to register.
    For registration, please register here.
  • Invited scholars (keynote speakers, keynote reactors, working group leaders, discussion panelists, and discussion panel chairs): $300
  • Regular scholars (Symposium with/out PD day): $380
  • Emerging scholars (no more than 6 years after PhD), graduate students, or K-12 teachers (Symposium with/out PD day): $320
  • Others (Symposium with/out PD day): $380
  • Accompanying person (Thursday dinner & keynote & reception, Friday keynote & dinner, and Saturday discussion panel & coffee break): $150

We are pleased to offer partial financial support to some emerging scholars and graduate students to participate in the symposium. For application by February 10, 2023, please fill out the form. Decision letters will be sent in mid-February. For any inquiry, please contact Zeynep Gecu-Parmaksiz.

Meals

All coffee breaks, lunches, dinners, and the reception on Day 1 (Symposium) will be taken as a group. They will be included in the registration fee. Breakfast will not be provided at the event and may be available through booked accommodation.
A coffee-break is included for both of the PD Workshop Sessions.

Symposium Accommodations

As the symposium takes place during the final week of exams and residence move-out weekend, there are no on-campus accommodations available.

Blocks of rooms have been reserved at the following 4 hotels:

Four Points by Sheraton Hotel is located about 1 km from Brock University. The cost for 1 King or 2 Queen suite is $149 per night (plus taxes) and is based on single or double occupancy. A la carte breakfast is available Sunday to Thursday (prices vary); buffet breakfast if available Friday and Saturday for $19 plus HST.

Best Western St. Catharines is located about 7.6 km from Brock and is on the St. Catharines Transit route. The cost for a standard room (single or double occupancy) is $149 (plus taxes) for Wednesday and Thursday nights and $199 (plus taxes) for Friday and Saturday nights and includes breakfast.

Stone Mill Inn is located 4.7 km from Brock and is on the St. Catharines transit route to Brock. Standard Queen rooms start at $129 per night (weekdays) and Standard King rooms also available.

Hampton Inn is located about 7.6 km from Brock and is on the St. Catharines Transit route. Room rates include breakfast and start at $140 per night for 2 double beds or $150 per night for 2 queen beds or one king bed. Reservations must be made by March 26, 2023 in order to obtain the group rate.

How to Get There

The event is being hosted at Brock University’s campus in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

Arriving By Car

From the East or North: Highway 401 West to Highway 427; Highway 427 to QEW

West/Niagara; QEW West/Niagara to Highway 406 South; Highway 406 South to St. David’s

Road West; to Brock University.

From the South: Highway 401 East to Highway 403 East; Highway 403 East to Lincoln Alexander Parkway East; to QEW Niagara; QEW Niagara to Highway 406 South; Highway 406 South to St. David’s Road West; to Brock University.

Arriving By Train or Bus

From Union Station in downtown Toronto, there is a regular (once every hour or two) Go Transit bus and/or train service to St. Catharines (taking about 2-3 hours). Check http://www.gotransit.com for the schedule. When arriving at the station in St. Catharines, it is possible to take a taxi to Brock (less than 10km). 

Arriving By Flight

There is no airport in St. Catharines. Participants arriving by flight will need to fly into one of the following airports:

  • Pearson International Airport, Toronto
  • Billy Bishop Airport, Toronto Island
  • Hamilton Airport, Hamilton
  • Buffalo Niagara International Airport, Buffalo New York USA

To get to St. Catharines, Niagara Airbus offers frequent shuttle, private car, or charter services which can take you directly to your hotel. The cost is approximately $190 (tax included) for both directions for a shuttle and about $256 for one direction for a private drive.

Parking at Brock Campus

There is a daily parking permit available ($12/day) just across South Block building where the symposium registration will take place. Parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays.

COVID-Related Info

Brock University’s pandemic measures continue to be responsive to changes at the National, Provincial, and Regional levels.
Masks and vaccination requirements have been lifted since  July 4th, 2022. Masks will still be encouraged in settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained. Both the vaccine and mask requirements are subject to change on short notice should the public health situation require it.

Optional Guided Tour (Saturday, April 29 at 4:00-10:00 pm)

On Saturday April 29th, join us for a night in Niagara Falls!  This is an optional tour for delegates who wish to experience the world famous Niagara Falls by visiting Niagara City Cruises followed by dinner overlooking the beautiful Falls at Table Rock Restaurant.
